Apptus eSales 4 supports a number of different recommendation types to use in different contexts in order to encourage a more natural shopping behavior and enable browsing by associations for visitors. For example, on product pages there are often areas that show different recommendations related to the product in question, and on a shopping cart page there may be recommendations of products related to the ones that currently sit in the visitor's cart.
Using deep product data understanding and behavioral data, eSales 4 can capture the visitor intent and show relevant products for each recommendation type on different page types.
Each of the recommendation types have their intended usage area, but can still be combined in any way possible, such as one Alternatives recommendation and one Upsell recommendation on a product page. To ensure an efficient use of retail space, deduplication of products is taken care of automatically.
The Alternatives recommendation present products that the visitor might consider to buy in place of the product they are currently viewing. This recommendation type is commonly used on a product page. The Alternatives recommendation tries to find relevant products that are similar, both visually and functionally (i.e. of the same, or a similar, concept and product type) to the product currently viewed by the visitor.
The Top products recommendation uses aggregated data from all visitor interactions and purchases, product event data such as stock levels, product information such as newness, and the selected exposure strategy to showcase the most relevant products. This recommendation type is not only versatile and reactive, but also the default recommendation type that is used if no other recommendation type is selected.
The Style with recommendation present products that style wise will go well together with the product that the visitor is currently viewing. This recommendation type is commonly used on a product page. The products shown in a Style with recommendation have been manually curated by a merchandiser.
The Upsell recommendation present products that are likely to be bought, or otherwise considered, by other visitors within a similar context based on both behavioral data as well as deep data understanding. This recommendation type is commonly used on a product page.
The cart page is a good place to show recommendations of products that are easy to add to the current shopping cart. The Cart recommendation tries to find other related products that are likely to be bought based on the content of the cart.
For generic pages where there is no direct connection to specific products, a visitor's behavioral data is used to provide personalised recommendations. The Personalised recommendation tries to find products that are related to the products that the visitor has already viewed or otherwise interacted with, as they are considered to be the most likely products to be bought.
Everyone has their own personal favorites, and most retailers allow visitors to select and view them later. Apptus eSales 4 supports recommendations based on these favorites, allowing additional inspiration when visitors browse their favorites page.
