The Navigation tab is where all navigation items for a market are managed. Navigation items are segmented by department and can have different structures for desktop and mobile/tablet devices. Navigation items can be either a category node, an external link, or a label.

A department can be described as an initial product selection that is recommended to mirror the department element in a product group in the data feed. The departments must be configured before any navigation items can be added. When a department is created it will automatically have a number of uncategorised products based on the product selection. These are indicated by a red colour in the department selector.

The uncategorised products can be converted into filtered product selections using any available custom attributes. The selections can be converted into category nodes using drag and drop into the navigation item listing.

The navigation items are what a visitor interacts with the Navigation tree component. Navigation items can be either a category node, an external link, or a label and can be created, deleted, rearranged, and merged within the navigation item tree. Merging and rearranging navigation items are done via drag-and-drop in the item tree.

Category nodes

Category nodes are the most common navigation item and can be created either from the uncategorised products or by creating rule based filters. The number of products included in a node is displayed on the right-hand side of the node. A category node can be merged into another node.

External links include a link title and a URL. The external link opens in a new browser window and does not require a protocol, i.e. http:// or https://.


A label includes a title and can have category nodes nested within.


Department and category nodes must be configured before being used.


The filter defines which products a visitor will see when they interact with a department or category node. Products are included or excluded based on their available custom attributes and values. A filter can be restricted further with additional exclude and include rules.

The settings section is used to add additional search keywords, change the node visibility, and to enable product image and sort order overrides. For departments there are also settings for sub-categories. The name of the category node or department is automatically added as a SEO item. The keywords are used to push the products of the category in a search result if the search includes any set keywords.

The SEO section contain settings for category page title and description, category preamble text, and the URL paths used to reach the department or category.

The category page title and description are optional and are enabled in the Default settings section of the. The texts are used as the SEO title and descriptions in the page header of a category page.

Preamble texts are optional texts that are displayed above the facets in each category. These texts are displayed in both desktop and mobile view. Longer texts are truncated but can be expanded by a visitor by tapping or clicking an expand label. The expanded label can be localised.

All departments and categories have a primary path and additional paths can be added. The primary path is automatically generated and is based on the place of the item in the navigation tree. This is the primary URL a visitor interacts with in the navigation of the site.

Any updates to the name or place of the department or category will automatically update the primary path. All paths must be unique and point to a single node. The primary path can be overridden by using the locking function that is seen as a padlock when hovering over a path in the interface.

Preview and publish navigation structure

The navigation structure can be previewed when either a department or a navigation item has changed. This is indicated by an orange cloud icon in the top right corner if the interface.

A menu is expanded by clicking the icon, showing options of previewing or publishing the changes. If desired, the preview URL can be altered. It is recommended to always preview changes before publishing.

Import navigation structure

It is possible to import the entire navigation structure from one market and touch point to another market and touch point from the menu in the top right corner. The import will completely override any existing departments and navigation items. To avoid mismatching navigation items it is recommended to have the same elements and custom attributes for all markets.

Touch points settings

When a navigation structure is published it is possible to change settings for touch point specific navigation. The first publishing sets all navigation to be the same on desktop and mobile/tablet devices. From the menu in the top right corner an option to use individual settings for touch points is enabled.

Individual settings means that the navigation structure can be different between desktop and mobile/tablet devices. When it is selected a copy of the desktop navigation structure is automatically copied to the mobile navigation structure. When changing back to common settings for touch points, which navigation structure to use must be selected.

Roll back navigation structure

A previously published navigation structure can be selected for use from the menu in the top right corner. The ten latest published navigation structures is available for use.
